- Salah is the name given to the formal prayer of Islam. The prayer is one of the obligatory rites of the religion, to be performed five times a day by every Muslim. Its supreme importance for Muslims is indicated by its status as one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
- Prayer is performed five times a day: at dawn (Fajr), noon (Dhuhr), in the afternoon (Asr), at sunset (Maghrib) and nightfall (Isha). It is obligatory for all Muslims once they have reached puberty.
- Prayer in Islam means direct communication with God hence, it is mandatory to perform prayer in a clean environment in which both clothes and the place where the prayer will take place must be clean. In addition to the clothes being clean, Muslims are required to perform ablution prior to praying.
